The Calaveras Big Trees wedding of Katelynn and Matthew was a true dream wedding. Calaveras Big Trees State Park is very special to the bride and groom because the groom has family history there, and his family’s vacation cabin in nearby Arnold has been a favorite destination for this couple. The entire wedding party had one giant slumber party there the night before the wedding, and both bride and groom got ready in the house, being careful to hide away from each other. Then we all drove to the park (that just happened to have a beautiful layer of snow in November this year!) for the first look. Their excitement was so fun to watch! We wandered around the snow and into the grove of big trees a ways for portraits before the ceremony. The ceremony itself took place at the base of a giant sequoia at the perfect time of day to have the gorgeous golden sunlight bathe the wedding party in a warm glow. After parading up to the reception site behind a bagpiper, guests dined on a wonderful Lila and Sage meal and danced to music from Sound Extreme in Jack Knight Hall. It was a perfect rustic mountain wedding, complete with a snowy send off the next morning!

there are so many favorite photos from this beautiful wedding in Calaveras Big Trees State Park. i love these trees! my most favorite photo is a full length taken of the bride and groom. his hand is on her face and he may be whispering in her ear or kissing her cheek and she is wearing a fur cape. i have a 2nd favorite too – the parade of guests with the bagpiper leading the way. ~laura
