Sonora Sports Photographer | Wrestling Portraits at Emerald Bay | Christine Dibble Photography
I have often used my middle son for photo experiments because he is so great at smiling and serious faces. So over the years, he has been my most cooperative subject from home. But there are times he really wants to go out for some portraits, especially if it incorporates his interests. This past summer, while we were at Lake Tahoe for our annual family reunion trip, I made sure we took some wrestling singlets and lights because I knew just where I wanted to do a quick shoot with him. One evening we headed up to shoot some wrestling portraits at Emerald Bay with plans to shoot on the very tip top of the granite peak that overlooks the bay. I have used that area before at sunset, and it was never crowded at that time of day before. But this night there were lots of people there. So we chose a spot a little down the slope on the other side, overlooking the falls. Even there, people kept coming over the top, armed with big cameras, but they would turn around when they saw us. It was not until the brilliant full moon was rising over his shoulder during one shot that I realized why the crowds were there! It was a lucky accident for us to be there and catch some of that. But the real star in these images is Brennen.
