Sonora, Ca Family Photographer | The A Family Photo Shoot | Christine Dibble Photography
This family had a rough go of things this summer. Mom and Dad waited a while for this baby boy, and they were very excited to book a newborn session to capture his early days. Then the Rim Fire hit. Just a day or two after the session was set up, reports came out that the highway was closed between Sonora and their home. I received a phone call from a relative explaining that the session had to be rescheduled because they could not even get here, and immediately after that, I heard reports of the evacuations going on on that side of the fire. I worried the whole time that this family would not have a home to return to. Once things settled down, I emailed Mom to ask how they were. The flames came to within 1000 feet of their house, but it was safe, and they were home. A regular family photo shoot was scheduled. Then the government shut-down hit. Dad no longer had a pay check, and when he would see one again was very uncertain. But they insisted on keeping the session date because they had yet to take any photos of their sweet baby. And then their luck changed. The shut-down ended, and the day of their session was beautiful and led us to the perfect pocket of light shining through a small patch of brilliant fall colored leaves. The little man was all decked out in Wranglers, cowboy boots, and Dad’s rodeo championship belt buckle. He was not all smiles that day, but we worked around it and still captured some beautiful family memories.
