Sonora Wedding Photographer | Genessee Valley Country Wedding | Christine Dibble Photography
When Lauren contacted me about shooting her wedding up in Genessee Valley, I was excited. Genessee Valley is deep in the heart of gorgeous California ranch country, just below Lake Almanor. In fact, it is so far out there that the closest place I could find to stay was almost two hours away! ( But the Hi Country Inn in Sierra City was perfect!) But the scenery is stunning, and Lauren and Josh had the perfect down home country rustic wedding. The girls started with hair and make-up at Molly June Salon in Quincy and then moved to a cabin on the property to dress, and the ceremony took place on hay bales under a giant oak tree, complete with an amazing swing hanging from the branches! Lauren works for the Forest Service, so all of the details were related to forest plants. She made the bouquets and boutonnieres and garlands for the tables and used pinecones for a cake topper. The rings from Staghead Designs were made of wood, turquoise and antler. The reception took place outside the giant red barn, where guests dined on BBQ tri-tip and chicken. Then the party moved inside for a good old barn dnace. One of the fun things Lauren incorporated was a sun hat contest, and the winner was a stunner! That hat came all the way from back east, through airport check points and on airplanes. It even lit up with twinkle lights! There were a few big hiccups leading up to the big day, but in the end it was the perfect country wedding for Lauren and Josh!
