Sonora Family Photographer | Portraits in the Snow | Christine Dibble Photography

We worked to schedule a family portrait session with this family. We had to fit it around school and work schedules but still early enough to have Christmas photos ready. So we set a date during Thanksgiving break. With the last few winters being dry, it still seemed like a safe time for outdoor photos. But of course, the morning of the session, the weather was bad. We had chosen a location out of Long Barn, so the session quickly changed from cloudy or rainy to family portraits in the snow. And this was not just snow. This was crazy, dumping, hard-to-see-in snow! In fact, most of the first images I shot were unuseable because there was so much snow covering faces! But the kids were all great sports (including the youngest who I first met for her newborn session), and they never fussed or complained. Afetr a few minutes, the snow paused long enough to get some clear shots, and then we were back in the warm, dry cars and navigating the slick roads to get some hot chocolate!
