Sonora and Oakdale Wedding Photographer | Ale and Meli | Christine Dibble Photography
When Melissa left to take a job teaching English in Galapagos, she never dreamed that she would meet her future husband and bring him home to Oakdale for a wedding, but that is exactly what happened. Alejandro may not speak very fluent English, but he didn’t need to understand any more than the words “I do.” Melissa happily explained every step to him throughout the day, and that was another great reason for them to have a first look before the ceremony. After they had the surprise reveal, Melissa was free to tell him about all the crazy American wedding traditions to Alejandro. The ceremony and reception were held at the home of a friend. The decor, done beautifully by Earlene Gregory, was a beach theme to represent the Galapagos Islands where the couple met and reside. Earlene also catered the delicious dinner. Make-up was done on site by Kerry Strickland of Beautiful Reflection and Day Spa. And the cake and cupcakes were provided by Sonia’s Candies and Cakes. The whole day was dark and overcast, but not a single drop of rain fell. During the reception the sun peeked out between clouds and even tinted the sky in pinks and oranges. I snuck Alejandro and Melissa out for some sunset photos, and on the way back, the bridesmaids coerced the bride and groom to climb up on the tire swing for a photo…one of my favorites ever! After some toasts for the couple and the cutting of the cake, Ale and Meli were whisked off under a sparkler canopy to enjoy their honeymoon before returning to Galapagos. Once again, I was so honored to be the one to capture this day in photos!
